For more than 30 years, HawkWatch International has been working to protect raptors (hawks, eagles, owls, and other birds of prey) through research and public education.
Our research projects monitor raptors throughout their entire life cycle--fall migration counts, spring nest studies, and winter surveys--in order to track their health and population trends. We use the best available data to guide our conservation efforts, and partner with various stakeholders to conserve raptors and their habitats.
We love sharing our raptor knowledge and inspiring new generations of conservationists and biologists! Our education and outreach programs reach more than 25,000 individuals in schools and community centers each year. Our migration data is used to teach students about biology and statistics in real world examples. Hawkwatching field trips get people outdoors and connect them with nature as we teach about raptor ecology and identification.
For millennia, countless cultures have revered birds of prey as representatives of strength, freedom, and the power of nature. As envionmental stewards, we are working to ensure future generations have this same privilege.
